WHY THE HIGH ATLAS?
Besides being known for the natural beauty and dramatic landscapes which stretches from Morocco to Algeria, the Atlas Mountain chain is home to both the highest mountain in North Africa, Jeb Toubkl (13,671 ft) and the indigenous tribal cultures of the Berber people.

The indigenous Berber culture permeates the best of the Moroccan experience. It is one of the oldest cultures in North Africa and is responsible for primary influences that we experience in modern Moroccan dress, cuisine, artwork and generous hospitality.

In this 5-day adventure, we immerse ourselves in the rich Berber mountain culture as we meander through traditional hillside villages, follow river-carved valleys and ascend high mountain trails to reach the highest mountain in North Africa. In the evenings, we’ll find ourselves in local inns, lodges or refuges. While the pinnacle of our journey is standing on top of the highest mountain in North Africa, the reason to go is to spend time in a part of the world where rich traditional cultures are revered and celebrated.
